The National Pioneer Ball was first introduced to the Pioneer calendar in 1997 by a group of young pioneers from Limerick. The ball was a great success and it soon became an annual event, with the location rotating between the different provinces and attracting an attendance of over 300 people nationwide.
This year, the 20th National Pioneer Ball is being organised by Connaught Youth Pioneer Committee, who are a very active youth committee with all members under the age of 28. The Ball is taking place on April 16 in Co. Sligo starting with a Mass celebrated by Fr Joseph Gavigan in St John’s Church, Carraroe at 6pm, followed by a four course meal in the Clarion Hotel Sligo. The guest speaker on the night is Irish singer/song writer John Farry, who is a fellow pioneer.
