A festival focused on the environment is being organised during Catholic Schools Week as in the Archdiocese of Dublin at the end of January, with famous climate activist Greta Thunberg being dubbed an “inspiration” for children.

The Laudate Festival 2020 will celebrate the theme of Living in Harmony with God’s Creation in song and reflection, with 3,000 pupils from 60 Catholic primary schools forming choirs of 500-1000 in four venues over four nights.

Cathy Burke of the Laudate Committee in the Dublin Diocese said: “Students in our schools are engaged in Green Schools Activity and need to be further harnessed within local communities to take leadership, taking inspiration from Greta Thunberg and her own radical actions and words.”

The festival night commences from 7-8.15pm on each of the nights: Church of St Agnes, Crumlin on Monday January 27, Our Lady of Victories Church, Ballymun Road on Tuesday January 28, Church of the Holy Spirit, Ballyroan on Wednesday January 29 and St Pius X, Templeogue on Thursday January 30.
