Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue marks anniversary

The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue has marked its 50th anniversary with a special conference in Rome.

The council was first instituted on May 19, 1964 by Pope Paul VI under the title The Secretariat for non-Christians. On May 19 last, the council held a conference, 50 Years of Service in Interreligious Dialogue, which heard from its president, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, among other invited speakers and saw the issuing of a new document ñ Dialogue in Truth and Charity: Pastoral Orientations for Interreligious Dialogue – offering guidance for the ongoing project of dialogue between faith traditions.
