Father Redmond will be familiar to many not only for his many; devotional books, but also for his musical compositions. "It is my hope," he writes "that this book will convey something of the continuity of the crowning act of providence, something of that witnessing appreciation and love" which some of the great spiritual figures over 2,000 years have devoted to the Eucharist.

In some nine chapters he recalls in his own words the feelings of many saints and noted persons, ending appropriately enough with a chapter in which he draws on his own memories of a long life to place the experience of modern times into the long chain of connections going back to that upper room in which the first Eucharist was celebrated.
