A year with St John’s Bible

Students from Patrickswell National School at the launch of ‘A Year with St John’s Bible’ at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick.

Described as 'the American Book of Kells' this seven-volume work took a team of artists and scholars in Minnesota 15 years to complete, and is now the first complete handwritten Bible since the invention of the printing press.

As part of its celebrations to coincide with Limerick’s reign as National City of Culture 2014, MIC will host two volumes of the St John’s Bible Heritage Edition (The Pentateuch plus Gospels and Acts), and is inviting school children to a series of related events starting January 29. P
