Achonry concludes diocesan mission

Successful mission attracts thousands

The first Achonry diocesan mission came to a conclusion after attracting about 2,000 people to Masses celebrated in three parishes over three weeks as part of the diocesan ‘Year of Prayer’.

Bishop Brendan Kelly was principal celebrant at the final Mass in the church of St John the Evangelist, Tubbercurry, with Frs Martin Jennings and Dan O’Mahony (Tubbercurry parish) as concelebrants. The Mass was attended by hundreds of people from the parish and surrounding parishes, and the mission saw hundreds attend similar evenings in Swinford and Ballymote.

The mission, entitled ‘A Journey Shared’, saw a repeated theme of renewal spread out over the three evenings each week – personal renewal, parish renewal and diocesan renewal.
