Fr Eddie Moore retires after 50th anniversary
On Saturday, October 19 the parish of Allen in Co. Kildare came out in numbers for a celebration in Allenwood GAA Hall in honour of Fr Eddie Moore’s retirement. This follows a special 50th anniversary Mass for Fr Eddie, celebrated back in June by Bishop Jim Moriarty and a large group of priests, family and parishioners.
Fr Eddie spent 21 years of his 50 years as a priest in Allen parish and parishioners from all corners of the parish – which includes, Allen, Allenwood, Milltown, Robertstown and Ballyteague – attended the celebration and represented the various clubs and associations in the parish, alongside Fr Eddie’s family, local and neighbouring priests, former parishioners from Kildare, Kill, Portlaoise and Kilkock.
The evening organised by parishioners consisted of light refreshments by Glennons, music from Kildare’s ‘Twice Shy’, set dancers organised by Liz Hand and Syl and various presentations including a slide show giving a snap shot of Fr Eddie’s time in the parish.
