Dear Editor, I agree with Mary O’Byrne (IC Letters 25/06/2015) that Amnesty International is no longer a human rights defender. It has lost its founding values and is now a champion and campaigner for abortion in Ireland.
Amnesty has damaged the reputation of Ireland, and is no longer worthy of public support by Irish people who believe in human rights for every life as set out in Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states: “Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of the person.” Amnesty has become blinkered and lost its way in its pursuit of the death penalty by abortion.
The advertising on Amnesty’s website “She is pregnant. She needs an abortion” says it all – abortion on demand as a lifestyle choice is their real agenda. So a human rights organisation is actively campaigning and lobbying for the death penalty for innocent life in the womb. Some understanding of human rights!
Yours etc.,
