The Bishop of Cloyne has asked for prayers for all of those affected by the tragic deaths of a married couple and their daughter in Cobh at the weekend.
The couple, Michael and Valerie Greaney, were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at their home in Cobh on Sunday afternoon, and their their 21-year-old daughter Michelle was found critically injured after a knife attack. The couple's other daughter (16) while uninjured, was left severely traumatised.
Bishop William Crean said he was “deeply shocked” by the case and asked the faithful of the diocese to “pray for all of those affected by these sad events”. “May the light of Christ, whose coming into the world we celebrate at Christmas, help to guide us through this great darkness which has fallen on the community of Cobh, and on the diocese as a whole,” he said.
