New campaign for palliative care and against euthanasia
The Canadian bishops will partner with two other movements in a national strategy to fight the push to legalize euthanasia in their country.
Gatineau Archbishop Paul-Andre Durocher, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, called it a "campaign for palliative care and against euthanasia”.
The archbishop described the campaign, set to launch September 28, as an "educational campaign to get people to be aware of the difference between the two”.
Partner
The bishops will partner with of the Catholic Organisation for Life and Family and the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition in the "National Campaign for Palliative Care and Home Care, and Against Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide”.
The archbishop said: "We are promoting a vision of life, a vision of care of the dying and that vision is best embodied in good palliative care."
Michele Boulva, executive director of the Catholic Organization for Life and Family, said the aim was "to make the faithful conscious of what's happening”.
