Nerves are setting in for the administrator of Carlow Cathedral, as he prepares for a parachute jump to raise money for the parish fund.
Fr John Cummins and parishioners Mark Carpenter, Marie Therese Byrne and Jo Brecknell, are making a tandem skydive at Clonbullogue Airfield in Co. Offaly on July 18.
“I have never done anything like this before and I plan to never do it again, so this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for people to sponsor me,” Fr Cummins told The Irish Catholic.
Just recently back from Lourdes, Fr Cummins said the nerves began to set in when he realised the next time he would be in a plane, he would have to jump out of it.
“I am looking forward to it, but I am also dreading it,” he said. “It has become a great talking point for people and created a real buzz in the parish.”
