Dear Editor, The liberal-left fundamentalists are at it again in Ireland. Thank you to the people of Kerry for promptly re-erecting the cross on Carrauntoohil. If these fundamentalists succeeded in destroying one cultural and religious icon, what would be next? Christ Church Cathedral? Clonskeagh Mosque or one of the many pre-historic sites like Newgrange or the many standing stones dotted around Ireland?
RTÉ stated that ecological groups objected to the cross on environmental grounds. Really? What groups? A danger to some moss or beetle? Or is the cross a threat to the growing number of noxious snakes that are re-colonising our island.
Hot air and poisonous ideas are more dangerous.
Again, well done to the people of Kerry. I’m sure not all of them did it for faith reasons but for common sense.
Yours etc.,
Declan Cooney,
Birr, Co. Offaly.
