Ceremonies to celebrate the feast of St Brigid, February 1, at her birthplace in Faughart, (near Dundalk) Co. Louth will commence with Mass in the Oratory of St Brigid’s Shrine at 10.30am. Personal blessing with the relic of the saint will be available at the shrine from 11.30-1pm and from 2-4.30pm. The annual candlelight procession will be held at 8pm from Faughart Graveyard to St Brigid’s Shrine. This will be the 40th year for this popular ceremony.
In preparation for the feast, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 4pm to 6pm on Sunday evening in St Brigid’s Oratory. Triduum devotions will be held at 7.30pm Mass in St Brigid’s Oratory on Saturday evening and at 10.30am Mass in St Brigid’s Church, Kilcurry on Sunday.
