Charlie Flanagan praises Presentation Sisters

Former Minister of Justice Charlie Flanagan TD has praised the Presentation Sisters in Mountmellick, Co. Laois, for their “hugely dedicated” work in education.

Mr Flanagan, who is currently the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence, made the comment in a Tweet posted on the Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary over the weekend.

He wrote: “Fond memories of Presentations in Mountmellick many years ago. My first formal educational experience. They were hugely dedicated to the task & did lots of good community work within & outside the convent walls.”

The politician was responding to a Tweet published by Bishop Denis Nulty of Kildare and Leighlin on the feast day, in which the bishop thanked the Presentation Sisters across his diocese for their “huge contribution in the fields of education, health, environment and social justice”.
