On Friday, March 11 the pupils of fourth class in St John’s National School in Cratloe, Ennis in Co. Clare re-enacted a play called ‘No Way Out’ in what has been described as a “very moving ceremony” in St John’s Church.
The play was choreographed by Maura Kitching, with musical direction by class teacher, Bernadette Kennedy.
“The setting for the play was perfect,” said Ms Kennedy, “as St John’s Church is historic in that it is one of only three remaining Barn Churches in Ireland. Having the three galleries provided the ideal intimate setting for this drama.”
The local Parish Priest, Fr Liam Enright said that it was “one of the most poignant performances of the story of Easter” he had ever seen.
Fr Michael Wall, the chaplain in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, was so impressed by the play that he invited the class to perform it again in the college chapel on March 14. There were large attendances at both performances.
