Crochet a cross for cards, books or bookmark

Children’s Corner with Erin Fox

With the first Holy Communions happening, this crocheted cross makes the perfect applique for a home-made card or on its own as a book mark for a prayer book. This cross is fashioned from the beginning round of a granny square. You can create a cross of any design using this as the starter round.

You will need one 3mm crochet hook, one ball of white crochet cotton yarn.

Shape

To make sure your cross holds its shape, place it on a towel over a work surface and spray liberally with starch. Pin to a notice board, placing pins in each point of the cross. Leave to dry and then remove.

To make the card, brush the back of the cross with clear glue and press this onto a folded piece of card.

Press down firmly with your hand and then leave to dry.
