Rugby legend Dan Carter has paid tribute to deceased Kerry teenager Donal Walsh as a “truly inspirational” young man.
Donal Walsh lost his brave battle with cancer in May 2013 after coming to national fame for campaigning against youth suicide and his parents continue to spread his message through the Donal Walsh #LiveLife foundation.

Speaking to the Ray D’Arcy Show in advance of the Foróige Youth Citizenship Awards, the All Blacks star explained how he had tried to get in touch with Donal a few weeks before he died.
“The beauty of social media is I sent him a message and it went viral, and unfortunately the tragic news came only a week or so later that he passed away. What an amazing young man he was. He reached out to a lot of people and was truly inspirational.
“It was really motivating how someone so young, going through what he was, was so positive,” he said.
