Dear Editor, Religious irregularities are always an appetizing discussion topic for the media. The recent claims about our national seminary in Maynooth are no different.
Pope Francis, with his bishops and priests, are in general, hard-working, diligent people of honesty and integrity. Human nature being what it is, the Church similar to most institutions will have its ‘drop-outs’ and problems; but it must have responsible administration in place at all levels to deal with them as they occur. This is no time for faintheartedness among a converted laity. Continue, undaunted, to support our clergy in the belief God is with us and His promises and teaching never change.
As Catholics, we persevere in our belief of eternal life. Only a fool should doubt it as the ignition that gets us through. In the end we have nothing to lose. “Let your Faith transform the world” – the Pope tells young Catholics on World Youth Day.
Yours etc.,
James Gleeson,
Thurles, Co.Tipperary.
