Drogheda May Day procession to honour Holy Family

The Drogheda annual May Day procession of ‘Our Lady of Fatima & St Joseph the worker’ will take place on Friday, May 1 at 6.30pm. In light of the forthcoming May 22 referendum on same-sex marriage, the central theme of this year’s procession is to honour the names of Jesus, Mary and Joseph within the context of the Holy Family.

The Drogheda procession will be attended by representatives of the Drogheda Corporation, Knights of St Columbanus, Order of Malta, St John’s Ambulance, Red Cross and marion and other religious fraternities. This year’s procession will be led by the Lourdes Brass Band and will commence from St Peter’s Church, West Street at 6.45pm, processing via Lawrence Street, Palace Street and Sunday’s Gate, to arrive for 7.30pm Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
