Dublin teens invited to enjoy festival of faith

Dublin teens invited to enjoy festival of faith Some of the young people at the Youth 2000 Summer Festival.

Over 200 young people are expected to attended a festival of faith next month hosted  by the Office for Evangelisation and Ecumenism in the Archdiocese of Dublin.

The idea behind the ‘Faith Fest’ in Clonliffe College came from four parish pastoral workers who had seen the success of the Youth Space at the Eucharistic Congress in 2012 and wanted to create something similar on a smaller scale for teenagers in Dublin.

“The festival originated from a group of parish workers working in parishes in the city or near the city who saw very few teenagers attending church and those who did attend were isolated and had no opportunity to meet others, so we wanted to build a faith community of teenagers,” said Maureen Keegan from Aughrim Street Parish.

“We decided to have local events and every six months to have a big festival of prayer, workshops, music and fun where teenagers can have an experience of God together.”

This is the diocese’s eight Faith Fest and all the young people from Dublin attending this year’s World Youth Day in Krakow have been invited. The theme is ‘Know me, love you’ and will involve an evening of music, workshops, meditation, movement and prayer. Faith Fest 8 will be held in Clonliffe College on March 11 from 6-9.30pm.
