Kerry fans who want to watch the replay of the All-Ireland Football Final can attend vigil Mass early this Saturday.
In a letter sent to priests across the diocese, Kerry’s Bishop Ray Browne said parishes could change the times of evening Masses to facilitate massgoers keen on watching the 6pm replay against Dublin. Vigil Masses in the diocese are normally not allowed before 6pm.
“Due to the timing of the All Ireland Replay Vigil Masses may be celebrated from 4.30pm onwards on Saturday, September 14,” Dr Browne said in the letter, continuing: “Parishes are best placed to make their own decisions in consultation with neighbouring parishes and their Pastoral Areas.”
The replay comes after 37-times champions Kerry drew with Dublin 1-16 1-16 in Croke Park on September 1, blocking Dublin’s bid to win a historic fifth All-Ireland title in-a-row.
St Mary’s Cathedral in Killarney will celebrate its usual 6.15pm vigil, as well as an extra mass at 4.30pm.
