The popular Eastenders’ character Kat Moon is to find solace through the support of a religious sister after attempting to end her own life.

Kat Moon is at the centre of a heartbreaking storyline, tackling how the sexual abuse by her uncle when she was a child, which resulted in the birth of her daughter Zoe, has affected Kat as she gets older.

Following her suicide attempt this week viewers of the popular soap will see the character, portrayed by Jessie Wallace, turn to a convent for help, and find friendship and support in the form of a nun portrayed by June Whitfield (89).

The legendary actress, who starred in hits including Terry and June and Absolutely Fabulous, will appear in a single episode in May.

It has also been revealed that a six-part spin off series will see Kat and Alfie Moon come to Ireland, where they will be forced to “search for answers to some very big questions”.
