A former English footballer has praised hundreds of young pilgrims for travelling from England to Lourdes to help the sick.
Commenting in response to a message on Twitter, Stan Collymore, a former Liverpool football player, said that the 400 young people making the trip to the Marian Shrine will have an obvious impact on those they’re helping.
He tweeted: “Fantastic that you guys volunteer when we’ve all been that age where going off doing cool stuff is the beginning and end of being young, but the people you’re helping I’m sure show you why you give your time. Have a great trip and thank you for such vital public service!”
Born in 1971, the football player has played for a variety of clubs including Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, and is currently a football pundit.
