Syria – For the second time in as many weeks, there has been a claim that missing Jesuit Fr Paolo Dall’Oglio is alive. Khalaf Ali Khalaf, described as a reporter and opposition activist has insisted that the priest is alive and well, though he also reported that the Jesuit is in the hands of kidnappers.
“Father Paolo Dall’Oglio is alive and is being treated well by his kidnappers,” Khalaf is quoted as stating by the Aki-Adnkronos news agency. The reporter further reported that the priest was seen in good health as late as October 5, and in an area controlled by Jabhat al Nusra, the group he had been planning to meet when he disappeared in July. Khalaf did not provide details of his source for the report, claiming that to do so would place people in danger of reprisal.
