Ireland’s Catholic Grandparents Association is “overjoyed” at news that Pope Francis is to meet with and celebrate grandparents this September.
Following news that the Pontiff will host a large gathering of grandparents and their grandchildren in Rome, a spokesperson for the movement said: “We are truly delighted, overjoyed, that at last the efforts of grandparents are being acknowledged and honoured at the highest level in the Church.”
“We have spent the past twelve years creating awareness for the vocation of grandparents, the sacred role they have and the responsibility they have for passing on the Faith. Grandparents were never as important as they are today to the Church, the family and to society.”
