Sr Stan has said she was blown away by the positive response to the documentary on her life. To mark her 80th birthday, Being Stan: A Life in Focus, aired on RTÉ1 on Thursday, February 13. It celebrated her life and work for the homeless and marginalised.
“I was taken aback by the response from so many people from far and wide to the documentary. I was very surprised by the response which has been huge and so positive,” she told The Irish Catholic.
The documentary hit headlines around its release due to Sr Stan’s statements about how long-term homelessness could have been eliminated during the 1980s. The story of Chino Okeke, a woman trafficked from Nigeria to Ireland when she was 15, who said in the documentary that Sr Stan saved her life, received a lot of attention.
