Becoming an uncle has prompted a top Chicago rapper to take a “sabbatical” to study the Bible.
The grammy-award-winning Chance the Rapper has said following the birth last month of his brother’s first child, a boy named Charlie, he feels he should read up on the Bible to become a better Christian and a better example for his family.
“I’m on a plane headed out the country on my first sabbatical,” the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram, continuing: “I’m going away to learn the Word of God which I am admittedly very unfamiliar with”.
“I’ve been brought up by my family to know Christ but I haven’t taken it upon myself to really just take a couple days and read my Bible,” the 25-year-old, real name Chancelor Bennett, confessed, continuing “so I’m off to read and learn because the next generation of Bennett is here”.
His new nephew “needs his uncle to be educated”, he added.
