Hollywood star finds God in WWII movie

American actor Shia LaBeouf (28) has revealed that he found God while playing the part of a Christian soldier wrestling with guilt during World War II, in his new film Fury.

“I found God doing Fury,” said the actor, whose mother is from an Ashkenazi Jewish family and whose father has Cajun (French) ancestry. “I became a Christian man … in a very real way. I could have just said the prayers that were on the page, but it was a real thing that really saved me. And you can’t identify unless you’re really going through it. It’s a full-blown exchange of heart, a surrender of control.”

The young star, famous for the Transformer film series, said his character was a “killer, but he’s also a man of faith. He’s a Christian man, a righteous man, who will tell you the difference between killing and murder – and there is a big difference,” he said.
