The organiser of the national ploughing championships, the biggest event of its kind in the world, has said that she didn’t know how she would survive without God in her life.
In an interview on The Meaning of Life with Gay Byrne, the legendary Anna May McHugh said “God is in my life in a very strong way”.
“God I feel is with me everywhere I go. I would ask God for favours. I would pray for God to cure people and I don’t know how I would survive if I did not have God in my life,” she said. “I believe he is there to guide me.”
The Managing Director of the National Ploughing Association, which attracted over 180,000 visitors to the ploughing championships last year, said she never missed Mass, loved the Rosary and the Angelus, and has “a great devotion to Our Lady”.
Mrs McHugh said she looked forward to the day she can see her deceased husband and family again. “I believe that I will meet them in Heaven.”
