Dear Editor, Any commission set up to investigate infant mortality rates in Ireland in the last century should also be empowered to monitor the application of the so called Protection of Life in Pregnancy Act 2013. This law, for the first time in our history, gave permission for the wilful ending of the life of an infant. As a society, we owe it to ourselves to ensure that the consequences of such a law are transparent, monitored and constantly reviewed.
Yours etc.,
Eamon Fitzpatrick.
