Next week’s National Ploughing Championships offer the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin a unique opportunity to “reach out” to the masses according to Bishop Denis Nulty.
“It is very important to reach out and for us to be in the field or in the marketplace,” Bishop Nulty told The Irish Catholic. “With over 279,000 people over three days last year, it is the biggest event in rural Ireland and we have an opportunity to have a huge outreach at the ploughing.”
The diocese is partnering with Vocations Ireland and Accord at a stand at Ratheniska from September 22-24, which will host a prayer space, a prayer wall, iCatholic videos and speakers, including the papal nuncio, Archbishop Charles Brown. The winner of the ‘Poem for the Ploughing’, which received over 1,000 entries, will also be announced.
Bishop Nulty said he is looking forward to “a super few days” and it was a “huge boost for the diocese”.
