Dear Editor, I live near Knock Shrine and in recent years a basilica has been built, an airport has been provided near Charlestown and Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa of Calcutta have visited the shrine. More recently the basilica has been renovated.
Sadly in recent decades the Faith in Ireland has declined a lot with Church scandals and falling vocations causing problems, but at Our Lady’s shrine at Knock, thousands of pilgrims come very year. I have seen that myself as a regular visitor to the shrine.
Knock Shrine is a vision of hope and may be instrumental in causing a great revival of our faith in Ireland, so let us pray that that will be so.
Yours etc.,
James A. Corcoran,
Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo.
