Latest abuse audits due

Several audits are expected to be published on Tuesday, December 10

The latest audits into the handling of abuse allegations in dioceses and religious orders are due to be published next week.

Carried out by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church (NBSCCC), the reviews look at historic handling of abuse allegations against priests and religious and ensure that current strict guidelines are being followed.

Several audits are expected to be published on Tuesday, December 10, including a report into how allegations of abuse were handled in the Archdiocese of Armagh and by the Christian Brothers.

The audits were carried out by the Church’s independent watchdog as part of an ongoing process that will see every diocese, religious order, congregation and missionary society assessed.

Reports have already been published for Tuam, Ardagh & Clonmacnois, Clonfert, Cork & Ross, Derry, Dromore, Kildare & Leighlin, Kilmore, Limerick and Raphoe.
