Bishop Brendan Leahy has launched a new book which considers the subject of mercy, not only through a careful reading of relevant Scripture passages, but by exploring revealing extracts from literary classics and examples from popular culture.
The book, The Message of Mercy, is written by Amalee Meehan, who works in faith development at the CEIST schools’ trust, and is published by Veritas.
At the launch in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick Bishop Leahy said that the book contains “many fine references to literature, music and culture in general”.
“Written with an enviably light touch, the book gently guides us through deep, uplifting and challenging thoughts on mercy. It starts with ourselves, then brings us to consider mercy and the family, mercy and the community but then also expands us to look at mercy in the wider world,” he said.
