WMOF 2018
With the joyous Baptism of two babies, St Mary’s Parish in Dublin’s World Meeting of Families (WMOF) preparation kicked off with a flourish.
Beginning with a children’s Mass in the early afternoon, parishioners enjoyed food and sunshine on the grounds of the parish centre in Lucan on June 24.
St James’ Brass and Reed Band heralded afternoon activities while local Boy Scouts were busy barbequing burgers and sausages for the gathering crowd. Events and activities followed, including face painting, a penalty shoot-out, bouncy castles and a magician.
Teas, coffees and juice were on the go all afternoon as well as cakes and buns by the dozen. It was a fun-filled day with laughter and chat, with families coming together as a community and enjoying this special parish event.
Many parishioners had come on board weeks beforehand, generously giving their time and talents.
The worthwhile celebration of families was entirely fitting in the run up to Pope Francis’ visit to Ireland for the WMOF in August.
