The child of an anonymous sperm donor and a children right’s activist who was raised by two mothers are just two of the speakers at a major conference this weekend.
‘Marriage Referendum 2015: An International Conference on Protecting and Nourishing the Family’ is being held at the Marino Institute of Education on Saturday, April 25.
Hosted by Mothers and Fathers Matter, the conference is billed a day of reflective analysis “on the constitutional, social and anthropological reasons for affirming marriage between man and woman, and the protection of the rights of children”.
Speakers include London-based Elizabeth Howard, who speaks out for the rights of donor-conceived people, Heather Barwick, a former gay marriage advocate who campaigns for the rights of children, and George Mason University Professor Helen Alvare, whose keynote address is titled: ‘When the Fever Subsides: Reason and Freedom in a World of Genderless Marriage’.
