Meath parish proud of Rose of Tralee winner

The parish priest of the Co. Meath winner of the Rose of Tralee has said the community is very proud of her achievement.

Meath Rose Elysha Brennan (pictured, 22) from Bettystown, was crowned the 56th Rose of Tralee at the international festival in Kerry last week. Fr Denis McNelis, PP of Laytown-Mornington parish, told The Irish Catholic the whole community was “delighted for her and wish her well for her year as the Rose of Tralee”.

“She is a great representative of the parish and a person of great character and commitment, not only as the Rose of Tralee, but with the cheer and uplifting of spirits that she gives people. Everyone is delighted and she has been tremendous through it all,” Fr McNelis said.

Elysha, who is recently returned from Lourdes where she volunteered assisting sick pilgrims at the baths, told The Irish Catholic before her win that she has “a great faith” and “wanted to give something back and to give thanks” following her remission from cancer.
