Media bias is not just a religious issue

Dear Editor, With reference to Anne McGrath’s letter re media bias (IC 23/06/2016), this bias is evident not only in relation to issues with a religious dimension such as abortion but in relation to a range of social issues.

While I still buy newspapers on weekends, I’ve almost given up buying them on weekdays because I came to the conclusion about three years ago that by buying a newspaper every day I was simply funding political correctness and the media’s own agenda rather than objective reporting and analysis.

However, thanks to the internet, one is no longer totally dependent on mainstream print and broadcast media as sources of news, comment and analysis.

Editors of mainstream national newspapers might be wise to consider the possibility that perceptions of bias in their publications could be one reason, among others, why newspaper sales are falling.
