Music Ministry Together, held at Cistercian College Roscrea from August 16-21, is a summer school for youth and adult leaders with a passion for liturgical music and the desire to serve as ministers in their parishes, schools and communities.
During the five-day summer school the participants gathered together as music ministers, and took part in various sessions to teach and learn church music together, as well as preparing and participating in various styles of Liturgy, sharing the Eucharist and taking part in Catechesis, along with organised activities and entertainment.
The school was established last year by Irish composer Ian Callanan, and is led by him along with a volunteer team of adult directors and tutors. The programme seeks to engage and empower young music ministers with a particular emphasis on contemporary church music and liturgy. This year’s school’s theme was “Make Your Home in Me” (John 15:4) reminding us of the constant need to have Jesus in our lives so as Christians we can be true beacons of light in the world.
