Dear Editor, The killing of Fr Jacques Hamel in Normandy, during a Mass was a shocking act of violence by two young men of immigrant parents raised in France. But despite the intentions of those who helped to radicalise these young men and to sow the seeds of divisions to promote their own warped agenda, the presence of so many Muslims across France at Catholic Masses as a gesture of solidarity does offer hope. Surely it is important that all persons of faith and none come together to promote our shared values; of tolerance, respect, love and forgiveness and perhaps then young men in the future may have a value base that can withstand the manipulation of those wanting to radicalise them.
Yours etc.,
Frank Browne,
