Vatican expert to speak on Pope’s renewal efforts

The lay Catholic reform group, the Association of Catholics in Ireland (ACI) has announced events in Dublin and Carlow next month examining the progress of Pope Francis in bringing change to the Church. On October 15, at 4pm, at Trinity College Chapel, Dublin, and on October 17, at 7.30pm, at Carlow College, the ACI hosts journalist, author and Vatican expert Marco Politi who will speak on the Pontiff’s progress in bringing change and the opposition and difficulties experienced by him. Veritas gains new director

Bishop Brendan Leahy of Limerick has announced the appointment of Aidan Chester as the new director of the Irish bishops’ publisher, Veritas. 

Mr Chester, a computer science graduate from UCD has worked with the senior management team of Veritas since 2009 with responsibility for retail, distribution and marketing. 

Mr Chester assumes his new role on October 17, replacing Maura Hyland.
