Limerick priest denounces drug dealers

A priest working in the Limerick neighbourhood of Moyross neighbourhood has denounced drug dealers for the misery they have brought to his parish. In a powerful homily, Fr Tony O’Riordan described dealers as “agents of Satan” who will face “eternal justice” for their murderous trade. Amid the subsequent media coverage of his homily, Fr Tony O’Riordan described the culture of fear existing in Moyross due to the actions of dealers, and said the best way of tackling the criminals was for the authorities to seize their assets.

“Follow the money,” Fr O’Riordan said. “The key is to disrupt the proceeds.”

Cause opened of Tyburn founder

The Vatican has opened the Cause for the canonisation of Mother Marie-Adèle Garnier, founder of the Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre, an order with a congregation at St Benedict’s Priory in Cobh, Co. Cork.

Born in Dijon, France in 1838, Mother Marie-Adèle founded her order in Paris at the end of the 19th Century. The order subsequently fled to London in 1901 due to France’s anti-clerical Law of Associations and later established a convent near the site of the old Tyburn gallows, where 105 Catholics were martyred during the Reformation.

Pro-life video clip proves a hit

A short video defending the Eighth Amendment protection for the unborn has reached a massive viewership in its first week online. The Youtbe and Facebook video –  #repealkills See the reality behind the slogan – which has been produced by Youth Defence had been viewed 303,955 times by October 2. The one-and-a-half minute clip draws on historical issues where language was ‘sanitised’ to make slavery acceptable under the guise of ‘segregation’ and ‘the final solution’ was a opaque title for the horrors of the Holocaust.

“‘Repeal’ is the word currently being used in Ireland to address the ugly truth of abortion,” the video states.  “It kills a baby. When you hear the slogan, ‘Repeal the 8th’, do you really know what it means? It means unrestricted access to abortion on demand, abortion for any reason, throughout all nine months of pregnancy. ‘Repeal’ means discrimination. ‘Repeal’ means taking the right to life away from another human being.”
