The impact of Vatican II on Ireland is the theme of a major new book due to be launched later this month.
The book explores areas such as education, human rights, social justice, liturgy, society and theology. Vatican II is widely regarded as the most important religious event of the 20th Century, and the book will look at the impact of the council in Ireland and the future implementation of Vatican II teaching.
Ireland & Vatican II, Essays Theological, Pastoral and Educational will be launched by Baroness Nuala O’Loan at the offices of The Irish Catholic, St Mary’s, Bloomfield Avenue, Donnybrook, Dublin 4 on Thursday, November 26 at 7pm.
The Belfast launch will be in St Mary’s University College, 191 Falls Road, Belfast the following week on Thursday December 3 at 7pm.
The volume is edited by Dr Niall Coll and contains contributions dealing with the 16 documents of Vatican II on a range of issues affecting the Church in the modern world.
