The Pope’s representative in Ireland has praised a new book by The Irish Catholic as a “very useful resource” for parishes and individuals trying to deepen their understanding of Pope Francis and his call to reform and renew the Church.
Launching Blueprint for the Church: An Introduction to the Joy of the Gospel, Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown said it was a valuable aid for Catholics.
The book, by theologian Fr Eamonn Conway and Irish Catholic journalist Cathal Barry, serves as an introduction to Pope Francis’ landmark document The Joy of the Gospel (Evangelii Gaudium).
Pope Francis also sent a message to The Irish Catholic conference at the weekend encouraging Irish Catholics to continue to work for the renewal of the Church. In the message, the Holy Father sent “cordial greetings to everyone taking part in the conference on the future of the Church in Ireland organised by The Irish Catholic newspaper”.
The Pontiff said he prayed that the conference “will help all those attending ‘to stir up enthusiasm for a new chapter of evangelisation’ in Ireland ‘full of fervour, joy, generosity, courage, boundless love and attraction’ (Evangelii Gaudium 261)”.
The Pope also gave his Apostolic blessing to the conference.
