Ossory’s Bishop Dermot Farrell has congratulated St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny, for their momentous hurling win over the weekend.

Dr Farrell said: “I am delighted for all the members of the panel who have trained so hard during the autumn, winter and into the spring. The rest of the college can bask in the reflected glory.”

The college defeated Presentation College, Athenry, on a score line of 1-15 to 1-12 at O’Connor Park, Tullamore.

“To not only secure the 23rd Colleges title, but to win seven out of its last 10 finals is an amazing achievement and, it puts the College nine titles ahead of its nearest rival,” Dr Farrell said.
