Pope to meet converted killer

Nun’s killer to visit Rome

An Indian man who stabbed a nun to death and subsequently converted to Catholicism in prison has been invited to meet Pope Francis in Rome.

The invitation to Samunder Singh was extended by Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Pontifical Council for Family, after the Pontiff expressed a desire to meet with the man, and his presence at the Vatican will coincide with a special screening there of The Heart of a Murderer, a documentary on the killing.

According to reports Singh will be accompanied to the Vatican meeting by a nun who is the younger sister of the woman he murdered 18 years ago, and the priest whose encounters with Singh as a prison chaplain led to singhísw conversion.

The murdered nun was declared a Servant of God in 2007.
