New film planned based on heroic work of Pope Francis in saving hundreds of people from the Argentinian dictatorship
The heroic work of Pope Francis in saving hundreds of people from the Argentinian dictatorship is to be made in to a movie.
The film will be based on a new book by Italian journalist Nello Scavo Bergoglio's List: The Untold Story of the People Saved by Francis during the Dictatorship.
In reply to charges that the young Fr Jorge Mario Bergoglio was complicit in Argentina's infamous ‘dirty war’ from 1976 to 1983, when roughly 30,000 people disappeared, Mr Scavo asserts that Fr Bergoglio was actually a Jesuit version of Oskar Schindler – quietly saving lives rather than engaging in noisy public protest.
In one case, Fr Bergoglio gave a man who bore him a passing resemblance his own passport and priest's clothing to make his escape.
After just a month, the book has already gone into an eighth edition and is being translated into ten languages in over forty countries.
Now, Liliana Cavani, a famed Italian director has announced plans to make the book into a movie to be released next year.
