Police in the state of California have arrested a man after a priest was found dead at his rectory on New Year’s Day.
The body of Fr Eric Freed of St Bernard’s parish in the town of Eureka was discovered by parishioners who searched for him after he failed to appear for morning Mass. Police did not reveal how the priest had died, but initially appealed for the public’s assistance in locating the late cleric’s car, which is missing. Officers later arrested a man named Gary Lee Bullock in connection with the killing.
