A Catholic priest’s oratory in Scotland has reached the finals of this year’s ‘Shed of the Year’ competition.

Fr Len Black from Inverness battled 331 entrants to reach the final of the Cuprinol Shed of the Year. The competition is in its 15th year, with the number of entrants doubling this year compared to 2020.

Fr Black livestreamed Mass from the shed – The Oratory of St Joseph – every day during lockdown attracting viewers from across the globe.

He is now on the shortlist of 22 over nine categories, his category being ‘Lockdown’. The winners will be decided by public vote which can be done through: readersheds.co.uk

Voting closes on July 12.

The overall winner will receive £1,000, a plaque, £100 worth of Cuprinol products and “eternal shed glory”.

Andrew Wilcox, head judge and founder of the competition, said: “The high-calibre entries this year really prove why we set up the competition in the first place – to highlight the valuable role sheds can play in our lives, in our businesses and the positive impact they have on our wellbeing.”
