Dublin-based priest and author of Why the Irish Church Deserves to Die, Fr Joe McDonald has launched a new Church-reform initiative to address the problems it is currently facing.
Speaking at the Roncalli Community launch this month, named after Pope John XXIII, Angelo Roncalli, Fr McDonald said we need to “preach Jesus and the Gospel in a new and creative way” and that all of us are encouraged to engage with this “saving work”.
He added that he sees this not as “disloyalty” but rather a labour of love for the Church, and that he finds it “unfortunate” priests have told people to keep away from the project as it is out to undermine the Church.
The next meeting takes place on Thursday, November 22 in Ballyfermot’s St Matthew’s church from 7-9pm. There will be contemplative prayer, fellowship, discussions and “prophetic action”.
